Baghdad’s Hypermarket Increases Electronic Payment to 15% Daily

Economy News – Baghdad

The Ministry of Commerce announced an increase in electronic payment transactions in hypermarkets, now accounting for 15% of daily sales.

According to spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Mohamed Hanoun, all cashier stations in hypermarket chains are now equipped with electronic payment devices (POS). Citizens utilizing electronic payment methods will see an increase in daily transactions from the previous range of 2% to 4% to the new 15%.

This shift is attributed to favorable governmental policies aimed at promoting electronic payments, which are expected to significantly increase across hypermarket centers in the near future, reducing reliance on cash transactions.
