The Iraqi Ministry of Health has joined forces with Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche to enhance their partnership through strategic initiatives. This collaboration underscores both parties’ dedication to advancing the Iraqi healthcare sector and fostering robust public-private sector relationships.
According to a recent statement from the ministry, this partnership extends the memorandum of understanding signed two years ago, which was renewed last year. The agreement outlines key objectives such as digital transformation in healthcare, promoting value-based decision-making, and improving clinical research within Iraq, among other healthcare initiatives. Roche aims to leverage its global expertise to assist the Ministry in developing innovative solutions that enhance healthcare services and expand access to advanced treatments.
Health Minister Saleh Al-Hasnawi emphasized the significance of this cooperation: “We are committed to modernizing the healthcare system in Iraq according to the latest international standards. Our partnership with Roche enhances our capabilities to achieve this objective by embracing digital innovation and improving the health services offered to citizens.”
Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hoon, accompanied by a delegation from Roche, which included Olfat Beru, visited the Iraqi Ministry of Health to reaffirm the importance of collaboration between the two entities. Hoon remarked that this visit not only celebrates the achievements made so far but also outlines future cooperation possibilities aimed at providing integrated health solutions for Iraqi patients. He stressed the necessity of fostering an investment-friendly environment in Iraq’s healthcare sector while respecting intellectual property rights, facilitating sustained public and private sector partnerships.
Ambassador Hoon further asserted that “the ongoing efforts to enhance the Iraqi healthcare system and serve its citizens will soon establish this sector as a benchmark for development and quality of service, which will positively affect the overall quality of medical care in Iraq.”
