The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, announced on Sunday that an Italian consulting firm has confirmed its readiness to initiate the first segment of the development road project by August. Al-Saadawi emphasized that the final route will be located outside of urban areas to facilitate uninterrupted progress and highlighted the project’s potential to deliver substantial economic benefits to the affected provinces.

In statements shared through official channels, Al-Saadawi remarked, “The Italian consulting firm has made significant headway in finalizing designs, with a current completion rate of 60%. They are prepared to commence the implementation of the initial segment of the project this coming August.”

He further stated that “Prime Minister Mohamed Shi’a Al-Sudani has underscored the importance of executing this project without hindrances, which has led relevant authorities to select a route that avoids urban complications to ensure swift implementation.”

Al-Saadawi detailed that “the final pathway has been designated outside of city limits, mitigating potential challenges and ensuring consistent progress without delays.”

According to Al-Saadawi, “The development road project stands as one of the key strategic initiatives, linking the major Pao port with inland regions. It promises to generate economic advantages for all Iraqi citizens, producing significant positive impacts on the provinces it traverses through the establishment of transportation hubs and the creation of new job opportunities.”
