Approval of New Residential City Project in Baghdad

On Monday, Minister of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, Benkin Rikani, announced the approval of the foundational design for the new Ali Al-Wardi residential city project in Baghdad. This significant initiative aims to address housing needs in the region and is pivotal for the government’s urban development strategy.

Project Overview

The Ali Al-Wardi residential city will be located in the Nahrawan area, southeast of Baghdad, and is projected to be the largest new residential development under the current government program. During the approval meeting, attended by the Director General of the Roads and Bridges Department, the head of the new cities implementation body, and representatives from the Egyptian Ora Developers Real Estate Development Company, various aspects of the project were discussed.

Environmental and Sustainable Design

Minister Rikani emphasized that the design principles of Ali Al-Wardi focus on sustainability and environmental friendliness. The project will incorporate ample green spaces and utilize clean energy solutions, positioning it as a modern urban project that serves both the community and the environment effectively.

Infrastructure and Housing Units

The residential city will feature approximately 120,000 housing units and will be connected to a comprehensive road network. Key infrastructure development includes a main thoroughfare, complemented by a surrounding road system.
