Basra – In a significant development for Iraq’s energy infrastructure, on Friday, February 28, 2025, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, conducted an on-site review of the project aimed at extending the dry gas transportation pipeline from Khor Al-Zubair to Nazem Shatt Al-Arab.
According to the Ministry of Oil, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of this project, detailing that the pipeline will stretch 40 kilometers and operate at a capacity of 42 knots. This initiative is designed to ensure a reliable supply of gas to electric power facilities across the nation.
The Ministry further noted that the extension of the pipeline is a crucial development project, providing enhanced flexibility for gas transportation to power plants in Iraq. This upgrade aligns with the government’s strategy to bolster the energy sector and improve the efficiency of electricity generation.
Notably, the pipeline will connect the strategic areas of Khor Al-Zubair and Nazem Shatt Al-Arab, further contributing to the country’s energy network and operational capacity.
