On Wednesday, the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau convened its second periodic meeting of 2025 in the historic city of Ur, located in Dhi Qar Governorate. This assembly aimed to deliberate on crucial supervisory matters concerning all state institutions and resulted in decisions affecting three governorates.
Ammar Sobhi, the head of the Bureau, provided insights during the meeting, stating, “The second control council session for the year 2025 took place within the seventh region auditing circle in Ur.” He emphasized that “the Financial Supervision Bureau serves as the paramount regulatory authority for the government, overseeing all state institutions across various provinces.”
Sobhi elaborated on the importance of the periodic supervision council meeting, noting, “We convened to make significant decisions relating to our supervisory responsibilities for all institutions. The choice of Ur as the location for this second meeting was intentional, given the province’s unique historical significance compared to others.”
Continuing, he expressed aspirations to restore Dhi Qar’s esteemed status among other governorates, citing its historical importance and impact. “It was mutually decided to hold this meeting in Ur, a city with a legacy spanning thousands of years. From this city, all regulatory decisions linked to our supervisory duties will be initiated,” he asserted.
Asaad Khalil Malim, Director General of the Seventh District at the Financial Supervision Bureau, confirmed that “Dhi Qar Governorate is honored to host this significant meeting of the Financial Supervision Council, attended by the Bureau’s President and members representing various provinces of Iraq, within the ancient city of Ur.”
He further articulated that this initiative, spearheaded by the head of the Financial Supervision Bureau, aims to bolster tourism and stimulate development in Dhi Qar. “This meeting carries historical weight for the Financial Supervision Bureau, representing all provinces of Iraq and marking a significant moment since the Bureau’s establishment nearly 98 years ago,” Malim stated.
Malim concluded by noting that during this assembly, vital reports and recommendations were issued to benefit Nineveh, Baghdad, and Dhi Qar provinces, contributing to a cohesive strategy for improving governance across Iraq.
