Baghdad Oil Pipeline Repair: Ministry of Oil Takes Swift Action

Economy News – Baghdad

The Ministry of Oil has reported a pipeline breach affecting crude oil transportation in eastern Baghdad. This incident underscores ongoing challenges within the region’s oil infrastructure.

According to a recent statement from the Ministry, technical and engineering teams from the oil pipelines company successfully managed to address the breach in a crude oil pipeline, specifically a 16-inch line located in the Nahrawan area. This intervention was part of the ministry’s broader commitment to safeguard oil infrastructure and ensure the continuous supply of oil, its derivatives, and gas.

The initiatives taken were executed under the guidance of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Engineer Hayyan Abdel-Ghani Al-Sawad.

Ali Abdel Karim Al-Mousawi, General Manager of the oil pipelines company, detailed the timely response of the technical teams, emphasizing their ability to control the situation, repair damages, and resume pumping operations without delay. The breach was identified as a fabricated hole connected to valves and a 100-meter plastic tube, indicative of theft. Al-Mousawi credited the efficiency of the maintenance teams in rectifying the issue and securing the pipeline network against such violations.

The Ministry of Oil, along with the oil pipeline lines company, reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring and addressing violations within the oil infrastructure, vowing to take appropriate legal action against violators. This proactive approach is essential to maintaining stability and security in the country’s energy sector.
