Turkey’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exports: February Overview

The Fresh Fruits and Green Exporters Association, located in the Turkish Mediterranean region, reported that Iraq ranked second in fruit and vegetable imports from Turkey in February.

Export Performance

Farhan Goroz, the chairman of the association’s board of directors, announced that Turkey’s exports of fruits and vegetables reached $319.3 million in February, reflecting a 4% increase compared to the same month last year.

Market Dynamics

Goroz highlighted that Russia was the leading importer of Turkish fruits and vegetables for February, followed by Iraq and Romania, respectively. He noted that there was significant growth in the volume of exports to markets such as Iraq, Azerbaijan, and the Netherlands during this period.

Trends and Pricing

Despite a 16% decline in the volume of fruit and vegetable exports compared to January, Goroz pointed out an increase in the total value of products exported. Notably, high demand has been observed for specific commodities such as lemons, mandarins, strawberries, and pomegranates. Additionally, the market has seen increased demand for potatoes, zucchinis, and cucumbers.
