Economy Update – Baghdad
Ali Shaddad, spokesman for the Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, reported today that oil production in Maysan Governorate, located in eastern Iraq, stands at approximately 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day, alongside an output of 140 million cubic feet of associated gas.
In a recent statement, Shaddad emphasized that, under the government’s strategic program and the initiatives set forth by the Ministry of Oil, efforts to rehabilitate the oil fields in Maysan are ongoing. The primary objective of these efforts is to enhance daily crude oil and associated gas production.
He detailed that daily associated gas production from the Al-Bazrakan, Al-Fakkah, and Abu West fields has reached 140 million cubic feet, noting that approximately 30 to 35 million cubic feet of this gas is allocated to power the electrical stations within these fields.
Shaddad further indicated that efforts are being intensified to maximize the utilization of associated gas for the operational needs of electrical power plants.
Overall, he stated that the total crude oil output from these fields could reach up to 300,000 barrels per day, contingent on the continued rehabilitation and expansion undertaken by the companies managing these assets to boost both oil and gas production capacities.
