Iraqi Airways Resumes Operations of B737-800 Following Extensive Maintenance
The Ministry of Transport has recently announced the successful return of the Iraqi Airways B737-800 aircraft, registered as Yi-ASK, to operational status after undergoing thorough maintenance procedures.
According to the ministry’s statement, the aircraft has completed comprehensive maintenance operations at the company’s main facility. This marks the fourteenth aircraft reintroduced to service as part of the national carrier’s broader initiative to reactivate grounded planes under the supervision of Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi.
The statement detailed significant improvements made to the aircraft, including the replacement of the landing gear and the installation of two engines serviced by the Dutch company KLM. Additionally, routine engineering checks and a heavy examination (C4) were performed, ensuring adherence to the highest air safety standards.
The aircraft had been grounded for over two years prior to this maintenance work, which lasted nearly two months at the company’s maintenance center. The B737-800 is set to be integrated into the flight schedule imminently, aligning with the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its operational capabilities. Iraqi Airways aims to reactivate all grounded aircraft by the end of 2025, marking a pivotal step in restoring its full service potential.
