The Directorate of Electricity Distribution in Sulaymaniyah has officially commenced a pressure test of the city’s electricity network, a procedure expected to last three days. This initiative aims to assess the network’s capacity for energy distribution and enhance supply hours.
“The testing process is divided into three stages, with the first stage initiated today at 1:00 PM,” stated a spokesperson for the Directorate.
During the first stage, electrical current will be temporarily separated from certain neighborhoods in Sulaymaniyah that face excessive load issues during peak times. Affected areas include Rabreen near Qanarisi, the new Shoresche intersection, Cordes, Obarە, Khalifa, and Kani Goma.
The spokesperson emphasized the significance of this test in measuring pressure on the electrical network, with the goal of identifying solutions that will increase operational hours. Furthermore, it was noted that there is a correlation between rising electrical loads and elevated temperatures, necessitating tests to ensure distribution efficiency.
This pressure test is particularly pertinent given the ongoing severe electricity shortages that have resulted in outages for some neighborhoods.
Over the span of three days, this testing endeavor is expected to bolster the distribution of electrical energy throughout the city. Relevant authorities assert that these measures are vital for achieving a more balanced electricity distribution and minimizing unexpected interruptions, especially amidst rising consumption during peak periods.
