Economic Update – Baghdad
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shi’a Al-Sudani hosted Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsifelv in Baghdad, where they discussed various areas of collaboration, particularly in energy and the oil sector.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, during this meeting, the Russian minister extended an official invitation from President Vladimir Putin for Al-Sudani to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany, scheduled for May.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s eagerness to deepen cooperation with Russia across multiple sectors, emphasizing the potential for partnership and knowledge exchange in artificial intelligence.
In response, Tsifelv highlighted the advancements made during the tenth session of the Iraqi-Russian High Committee, which took place in Baghdad under his leadership. He noted progress regarding memoranda of understanding and agreements in maritime transport, health, and the oil sector, reiterating his government’s ambition to foster enhanced collaboration between the two nations on shared interests.
