On Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Sudani conducted a comprehensive briefing on the status of significant sewage infrastructure projects in Baghdad.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office announced that Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani led a meeting focused on the four major sewage projects located in the Abu Ghraib district, Sabaa Al-Bour, Al-Wahda, Nahrawan areas, and the Al-Rashidiya sewer project. Participants included the Governor of Baghdad, key officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, relevant managers from the governorate, as well as representatives from engineering firms and the project oversight team.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the progress of each project, analyzing completion rates and identifying the challenges hindering timely implementation. He emphasized the necessity of adhering to established specifications and deadlines.
The discussions also addressed issues related to a seven-swine sewage project, particularly its implications for drinking water quality. The Prime Minister urged expedited action on drinking water initiatives in the affected region, recommending that efforts should align with ongoing sewage project developments.
Prime Minister Sudani underscored the critical nature of these service and infrastructure projects, highlighting their direct benefits to citizens. He stressed the need for concerted efforts to complete these initiatives swiftly while maintaining safety standards during excavation in residential areas. He further directed the incorporation of locally manufactured tubing produced by Iraqi private sector laboratories, ensuring they meet high-quality specifications.
