South Gas Announces Major Investment Projects with Total

South Gas Company Unveils Major Gas Production Initiatives in Collaboration with Total

The South Gas Company has recently announced significant advancements in gas production and investment projects derived from oil fields. This development includes a contract with French energy giant Total, encompassing four distinct projects.

General Manager Hamza Abdel Baqi outlined that the partnership with Total focuses on two initial phases designed to harness resources from three fields: Crazy, Western Qurna 2, and Artawi. The first phase aims to achieve a production target of 300 million cubic feet. Following this, the second phase will also engage with Brick, Al-Hayes, and Saba fields, achieving an equivalent production target of 300 million cubic feet.

Abdel Baqi expressed that the completion of the first stage is projected for the first quarter of 2028. The ministry anticipates the overall project’s conclusion by the end of 2028, which would effectively eliminate the flaring of gas in five to six oil fields.

In a related initiative, the Oil Minister laid the foundation stone for the Artawi field gas production project on January 10. This project, achieved in collaboration with Total, is designed to produce 50 million cubic feet of gas per day and is expected to be finalized next year. The output will play a crucial role in supplying fuel for power generation stations.

The government remains committed to advancing the gas sector, aiming to meet energy demands and enhance environmental quality in the region.
