Iraq Ranks Second in Turkish Fruit and Vegetable Imports

Economy News – Baghdad

The Fresh Fruits and Green Exporters Association, based in the Turkish Mediterranean region, has revealed that Iraq ranked second in imports of fruits and vegetables in February.

According to Farhan Goroz, the chairman of the association, Türkiye exported fruits and vegetables worth $319.3 million in February, reflecting a 4% increase compared to the same month last year.

Goroz further indicated that “Russia was the largest importer of Turkish fruits and vegetables in February, with Iraq following in second place and Romania in third.” He highlighted that there was a significant increase in exports to markets in Iraq, Azerbaijan, and the Netherlands during this period.

“Despite a 16% decrease in fruit and vegetable exports in February compared to the prior month, the overall value of the products has increased,” he added.

Goroz pointed out the notable rise in prices for various fruits, particularly lemons, mandarins, strawberries, and pomegranates. Additionally, there has been increased demand for potatoes, sajal, and cucumbers during this time.
