Iraq Ranks 4th in Turkish Pistachio Imports at $4M in 2024

The Turkish Chanli Eurva Exchange Council has reported that Iraq ranks fourth among countries importing pistachios from Turkey.

According to Council President Issa Kizbadimir, Turkey generated $229.77 million from pistachio exports to 96 countries in 2024, marking a significant increase of 52% compared to the previous year.

Kizbadimir noted that in 2024, Germany emerged as the primary destination for Turkish pistachios, with imports valued at $49 million. Italy followed closely as the second-largest importer at $47 million, while Kazakhstan secured third place with $12 million. Iraq came in fourth with $4 million, followed by Kyrgyzstan in fifth and China in sixth position.

He further indicated that the pistachios grown in southeastern Turkey are in high demand both domestically and internationally, referring to them as “green gold,” particularly highlighting the significance of cultivation in the Gaziantep and Urfa regions.
