Türkiye’s Wheat Flour Exports: Iraq Ranks First
On Monday, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmoud Corgan announced that Iraq has emerged as the leading destination for Türkiye’s wheat flour exports.
In Corgan’s statements, it was reported that Türkiye’s total wheat flour export value stood at approximately $6.96 billion, with Iraq accounting for a significant share of $1.47 billion—representing 21.2% of the total in 2023.
Looking ahead, Corgan noted that Türkiye’s wheat flour exports for 2024 are projected to reach $1.16 billion, again highlighting Iraq’s position as the top importer, followed by Syria, Somalia, Djibouti, and Venezuela.
Further insights from Arn Gaunhan Olusoy, head of the Flour Producers Association in Türkiye, suggest that exports of wheat flour to Syria are expected to surpass 400,000 tons by 2025.
This data underscores the growing significance of Turkish wheat flour exports in regional markets, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, as Türkiye continues to strengthen its position as a key exporter in the global wheat market.
