Iraq Emerges as Top Importer of Turkish Roses
In a noteworthy development in the ornamental plant sector, Iraq has ascended to the forefront of countries importing cut roses from Turkey. This trend highlights the significant demand for Turkish floral products in the Iraqi market.
The Federation of Ornamental Plants in Turkey disclosed that over the past five years, a total of 523 million and 26 thousand and 808 roses have been cultivated across 270 hectares of land. This substantial production showcases the capacity of Turkey’s floral industry to meet international demand.
According to Akjan, a representative from the Federation, Turkey has realized an impressive revenue stream of approximately $2.9 million attributed to the export of cut roses within this timeframe.
For the year 2024, rose exports have shown positive momentum, generating sales valued at $441,741. Notably, Iraq has emerged as the primary destination for these exports, accounting for $148,732. Turkmenistan follows closely as the second-largest importer, with purchases totaling $137,424.
The current export landscape illustrates the thriving relationship between Turkey and Iraq within the ornamental plant market, positioning Turkey as a key player in the global floral supply chain.
