On Monday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the commencement date for the wheat marketing season and provided insight into the current strategic grain storage levels.
Haider Nuri al-Karawi, the General Manager of the General Cereal Trading Company at the Ministry of Commerce, indicated that “the wheat marketing season will commence after the tenth of April each year.” Furthermore, he noted that the ministry currently holds a stockpile of 3.7 million tons of wheat and is actively distributing it to citizens through appointed agents.
Atheir Al-Ghariri, the Minister of Commerce, previously highlighted the government’s achievement of self-sufficiency in wheat production, emphasizing the implementation of strategic projects. He also mentioned that the ministry has streamlined procedures to facilitate investments from both local and foreign stakeholders.
