Baghdad’s Finance Minister Highlights Critical Partnership with World Bank for Sustainable Development Initiatives

The Iraqi Finance Minister, Taif Sami, emphasized the crucial role of collaboration with the World Bank in financing initiatives that promote sustainable development during a recent meeting.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, Minister Taif Sami Muhammad held discussions with Emmanuel Salinas, the World Bank representative in Iraq. The meeting also included Fadia Saadeh, Regional Director for Human Development, and members of their delegation. The agenda focused on strengthening the partnership between the two entities in support of development projects and the execution of vital economic reforms.

Minister Sami highlighted the significance of this partnership in funding programs aimed at fostering sustainable development, reiterating the Iraqi government’s commitment to implement comprehensive financial and economic reforms to ensure the stability of the national economy. He stated, “These reforms are designed to enhance sustainable growth, improve financial resource management, combat corruption, and promote transparency within governmental institutions.”

Emmanuel Salinas commended the Iraqi government’s ongoing efforts to improve the economic climate and bolster transparency and efficiency. He affirmed the World Bank’s readiness to provide increased technical and financial assistance consistent with Iraq’s development priorities.

Both parties agreed to continue their collaboration to achieve strategic objectives and enhance economic stability in Iraq.
