Trump to Lead White House Crypto Summit Next Friday

Economy News – Follow-up

The White House has announced that President Donald Trump will lead the inaugural summit on encrypted currencies next Friday, reinforcing his ongoing support for this emerging sector, a commitment he first expressed during his presidential campaign.

At this summit, President Trump is expected to address a diverse group of key stakeholders in the encrypted currency space, including notable founders, executives, and investors, alongside members from the Trump working group on digital assets.

David Sachs, a businessman with a deep expertise in encrypted currencies, will spearhead the event, with management support from Po Heins, CEO of the Labor Group.

Trump Working Group

Shortly after assuming office, President Trump signed an executive order to establish a working group comprised of key agencies tasked with advising the White House on digital assets policy and creating a national digital asset framework.

This collaborative working group features representatives from the Treasury Department and the Department of Justice, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Campaign Commitments

During his 2024 campaign, Trump, who previously referred to encrypted currencies as a “fraud,” made several commitments including the simplification of regulations, the appointment of designated individuals to oversee the sector, the promotion of a stable currency framework, and the proposal to establish a U.S. Bitcoin exchange.
