Baghdad Minister Pledges Enhanced Support for Persons with Disabilities, Advocates for Equality in Society

On Friday, Ahmed Al-Asadi, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to support individuals with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of achieving parity with their peers within society.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Labor, Minister Al-Asadi held a meeting with Mowaffaq Al-Khafaji, the head of the Disabled Gathering in Iraq, where they explored strategies to enhance the rights of persons with disabilities in alignment with international agreements that Iraq has ratified.

During the discussions, the minister underscored the ministry’s commitment to this vital demographic and the intention to furnish the best support services, aimed at ensuring equality within society. Furthermore, he noted the plan to reconnect the deaf and mute treaty to the Ministry of Labor, with the goal of refining and elevating the quality of related services.

In addition, Al-Asadi congratulated Al-Khafaji on his appointment as the first deputy head of the Arab Organization for Disabilities, commending his work in championing the rights of persons with disabilities on both local and regional fronts while acknowledging the significant contributions made by various nations in promoting the cause.
