Economic Update – Follow-up
The recent summit on artificial intelligence held in Paris saw the absence of signatures from both the United States and the United Kingdom. The summit culminated in a declaration titled “A Statement on Comprehensive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence.”
The statement outlines key priorities that include the commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence remains open, comprehensive, transparent, ethical, safe, and trustworthy, while adhering to international frameworks. Furthermore, the focus is on making artificial intelligence sustainable for both humanity and the planet.
As of now, the United States has not disclosed its reasons for not signing the summit’s announcement, according to available reports.
A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer indicated that the UK is continuing discussions and will participate in various initiatives alongside its partners, France included. He emphasized, “We will only engage in initiatives that advance the national interest of Britain.”
Meanwhile, the French presidency, often referred to as “Elysée,” confirmed that other nations had endorsed the announcement within hours following the summit.
