Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, emphasized the necessity for Europe to enhance its defense capabilities by 2030 in remarks made on March 18.
“By 2030, Europe must establish a robust defensive posture,” von der Leyen stated during her address at the Danish Royal Military Academy in Copenhagen.
She introduced a strategic framework dubbed “The 2030 Reconstruction,” which calls for rearmament and the development of capabilities essential for a credible deterrence force. “The 2030 Recapture signifies establishing a defensive industrial base that provides a strategic advantage. Immediate action is necessary as we prepare for the year 2030,” she added.
Furthermore, von der Leyen highlighted Russia’s preparation for potential conflict with European democracies, particularly as U.S. attention shifts toward the Indian and Pacific regions.
She remarked on Russia’s significant expansion of its military production capabilities, underscoring that this military investment supports its ongoing war efforts in Ukraine and positions it for future confrontations with Europe.
