Economy News – Baghdad
The ongoing investigation into the murder of journalist Laith Mohamed Reda has yet to yield an arrest. During a recent Shiite ceremony, a source close to the deceased indicated that the altercation leading up to the murder did not directly involve Reda and his alleged killer, but rather a group of young men from the neighborhood. These individuals were reportedly engaged in a disruptive motorcycle operation near Reda’s residence, which he had previously requested they cease.
The source further elaborated that the owner of the vehicle involved, identified as “Gi-Class,” had a confrontation with Reda over the ongoing disturbance, escalating into a quarrel. The altercation was reportedly mismanaged, leading to significant tension in the vicinity. It appears that the assailant was methodical and intent on carrying out the crime, as details suggest that the perpetrator attempted to evade identification by removing the vehicle’s license plates. The assailant is believed to be located within the Zayouna area, which is currently under surveillance, although no arrests have been made as of yet.
