Turkey’s Gabar Oil Production Reaches 78,000 Barrels Daily!

Turkey’s Oil Production Reaches New Milestone

Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that daily oil production at the Gabar Mountain oil field has surged to 78,000 barrels. The Turkish government has set an ambitious target to elevate this output to 100,000 barrels per day.

In a recent social media update, Minister Bayraktar shared a video showcasing the well at Mount Gabari, encapsulating the positive turnaround in Turkey’s oil sector with the phrase, “From the darkness of yesterday to light today, from yesterday’s mourning for hope!”

“We are currently extracting 78,000 barrels of oil from 95 operational wells at Mount Gabar,” he confirmed during his announcement.

The Gabar Mountain oil field, situated in the Şırnak province of North Kurdistan, boasts an estimated oil reserve of 150 million barrels. Supporting this operation, approximately 3,000 workers are engaged daily on-site.

Turkey’s oil reserves, however, are not considered particularly abundant, with existing fields primarily located in provinces such as Samsun, Elazığ, Diyarbakır, Şırnak, and Mardin in North Kurdistan. The oil produced contributes to a relatively minor portion of Turkey’s overall domestic consumption needs.
