In his recent address to Congress, US President Donald Trump acknowledged that the tariffs imposed on several countries could lead to “some turmoil” within the US economy, yet he expressed a sense of satisfaction with this approach.
Trump stated, “The tariffs will make America rich and great again. This will happen quickly. While there may be some disruptions, we are confident that the overall impact will be minimal.”
He further emphasized that “tariffs are not solely about protecting American jobs; they also safeguard the spirit of our nation.”
The Republican President warned that companies manufacturing outside the United States would face tariffs that “in some cases will be considerably high.”
During his speech, Trump criticized the European Union and nations including Canada, Brazil, India, Mexico, and South Korea, labeling their trade practices as “unfair.”
“This inequity arises from both allies and adversaries. This system has never been fair to the United States,” he noted.
Trump announced that effective April 2, the United States would levy tariffs similar to those currently imposed by its trading partners.
He projected that these tariffs could generate “trillion dollars” in revenue, while also fostering job creation.
