Iraqi Authorities Apprehend Trio for Distribution of Counterfeit Currency

The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency has reported the arrest of three individuals accused of possessing a significant amount of counterfeit currency, specifically in U.S. dollars, in Baghdad.

According to an official statement from the agency, specialized units targeting organized crime in the Karkh district of Baghdad apprehended the suspects following credible intelligence reports indicating their intent to sell fake currency within the capital.

The agency conducted a strategic operation, successfully executing a surveillance plan that led to the arrests after obtaining essential judicial authorization.

Upon interrogation, the individuals confessed that they were aware the currency in their possession was counterfeit. These admissions were recorded and accepted as valid for judicial proceedings.

This development underscores the ongoing efforts of Iraqi authorities to combat currency fraud and safeguard the integrity of the financial system within the country.
