Economy News – Baghdad

On Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani called on service institutions to enhance their operations, emphasizing the need to present Baghdad in a manner commensurate with its esteemed history and cultural heritage. His directives aimed to synchronize efforts across various sectors to ensure the capital reflects its significant civilizational position.

The Prime Minister met with a group of cleaning personnel, sharing a meal with them in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. He expressed his appreciation for their dedication and commitment to providing essential services to Baghdad, particularly in light of the recent heavy rains, which exceeded 72 mm.

During this encounter, Al-Sudani recognized the outstanding efforts of sewage and municipal workers throughout the city’s neighborhoods. He also emphasized that Baghdad serves as the face of Iraq and is a pivotal center for Arab tourism, necessitating a collective push to portray it in a deserving manner.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted infrastructure and service projects that are being implemented in Baghdad for the first time following years of neglect. These initiatives include significant upgrades that facilitate movement and enhance the city’s aesthetic, as well as comprehensive wastewater network projects across the capital. Local Iraqi companies have been contracted for sewage projects in various regions, including Sabaa Al-Bor, Nahrawan, Al-Wahda, Abu Gharib, and Al-Rashidiya within Baghdad Governorate.
