Qatar’s Telecommunications Sector Profits Surge 13.5% in 2024, Exceeding 4 Billion Qatari Riyals

The telecommunications sector in Qatar has demonstrated significant growth, with total net profits for companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange experiencing a 13.5% increase year-on-year, reaching approximately 4.04 billion Qatari riyals by the end of 2024.

Ooredoo emerged as the dominant player, contributing 85% to the sector’s net profits, which amounts to around 3.43 billion riyals. This reflects an impressive annual growth rate of 14%.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Qatar reported a more than 11% increase in profits for the same period, surpassing 600 million riyals. This growth was primarily driven by a surge in data revenues.

In terms of investment returns, the telecommunications sector recorded a return on investment of 4.55%. Additionally, the profitability multiplier stood at 15.5 times at the conclusion of the trading session on February 12, 2025.
