Poland’s Interest in Strengthening Tourism and Cooperation with Iraq
On Thursday, Polish Senate Member Tomash Lasz highlighted his country’s intention to boost tourism from Poland to Iraq.
Senator Lasz, accompanied by a delegation, visited the Aqsa Governorate in Basra, located in southern Iraq. This visit aimed to engage with local authorities, including Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, to explore opportunities for development and investment collaboration.
Enhancing Bilateral Relations
During their discussions, the two parties focused on mechanisms for enhancing bilateral relations and shared experiences. According to a statement from Governor Al-Eidani’s office, the meeting underscored the importance of fostering closer ties between Poland and Iraq.
In his remarks to reporters after the meeting, Senator Lasz stated, “We love Iraq, so we came here in order to strengthen relations between Iraq and Poland.” He emphasized that the visit to Basra is part of a broader strategy to open various avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
Future Collaborations and Cultural Exchange
Senator Lasz expressed his commitment to ongoing cooperation, noting that this visit would not be the last for Basra and that further visits are planned. He also mentioned the intent to promote inter-religious dialogue and cultural rapprochement.
“Future collaboration between the Iraqi people and the Polish people will be achieved by building bridges of cooperation between our governments,” he added, outlining aspirations for both the current and forthcoming stages of their partnership. Senator Lasz expressed hopes to attract significant numbers of Polish and European tourists to Iraq, thereby enhancing the economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
