Oil Ministry Calls for Collaboration with Global Firms to Enhance Oil Production

On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the Ministry of Oil in Iraq issued a call to foreign companies operating under the contract (Apuroor) with the Kurdistan Regional Government. The intent is to encourage these firms to convene in Baghdad.

The ministry articulated its objectives in a recent statement, indicating a desire for the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Region to attend a meeting next Tuesday. This gathering aims to facilitate discussions on existing contracts and to establish cooperative frameworks that will advance the development of oil fields based on best global practices and serve national interests.

Additionally, Oil Minister Hayyan Abdel-Ghani announced that oil export operations from the Kurdistan Region are anticipated to resume within the next 24 hours. The exports will be managed through the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (Somu) and routed via the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

In a statement, Minister Abdel-Ghani projected that the initial export volumes would reach 185,000 barrels per day, with aspirations to increase this figure gradually over time.
