Nineveh Imposes Quarantine on Livestock Amid Disease Outbreak

Economy Update – Baghdad

Nineveh Governor Abdel-Qader Al-Dakhil has announced the implementation of a health quarantine on 22 livestock farms located in the eastern regions of Mosul. This measure is part of the local government’s proactive strategy to mitigate the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, which has resulted in the death of 70 livestock and has affected 230 additional animals.

Al-Dakhil emphasized that these procedures reflect the local government’s commitment to curtailing the disease’s spread and ensuring a safe environment for livestock in breeding areas. He further clarified that veterinary teams in the governorate are actively monitoring the situation in Kokjeli, which is the primary breeding area east of Mosul. The continuous implementation of these measures is essential to prevent the disease from spreading to other areas.

The Nineveh Veterinary Operations Room conducted extensive preventive workshops in Kokjeli on Sunday, focusing on controlling potential outbreaks and closely monitoring the livestock impacted by the disease.
