The Governor of Nineveh, Abdel Qader Dakhil, asserted today, Saturday, that ongoing projects in Sinjar and the Nineveh Plain will play a critical role in facilitating the return of displaced individuals.
During a televised address at the inauguration of 14 projects within the first phase of infrastructure development and rehabilitation for the Sinjar district and the Nineveh Plain regions, Al-Dakhil stated, “These projects will enhance emergency services by constructing bridges across 11 administrative units, with 5 units located in West Nineveh and 6 in the Nineveh Plain, substantially aiding the repatriation of the displaced.”
He further noted that “the 2023 and 2024 budget allocated a total of 89 projects under the Sinjar and Nineveh Plain Fund.” Emphasizing collaborative efforts, he mentioned, “We worked collectively to fulfill all necessary requirements and documentation, submitting them to the ministries of planning and finance within an impressive timeframe of 6 months.”
Al-Dakhil continued, “The Prime Minister’s government supports these initiatives, recognizes the significance of the Yazidi community, and is processing compensation for approximately 5,000 transactions for the residents of Sinjar. The groundwork for a new 100-bed hospital has also been laid.”
