Iraqi Ministry of Oil Engages Foreign Companies to Enhance Kurdistan Oil Development
On March 1, 2025, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil extended an invitation to foreign companies engaged under the Apuroor contract with the Kurdistan Regional Government, urging their representatives to convene in Baghdad.
The ministry emphasized the importance of this meeting in a statement, stating it aims to discuss and circulate matters relating to existing contracts. The goal is to foster collaborations that align with international best practices and advance the development of oil fields in a manner conducive to national interests.
In related developments, Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdel-Ghani announced the imminent resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan region. This will be facilitated via the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (Sumo) and the Turkish port of Ceyhan, with operations expected to begin within the next 24 hours.
In a separate briefing, the Minister confirmed that initial export volumes are projected at 185,000 barrels per day, with intentions to gradually scale up production to meet increasing demand.
