Meeting Addresses Challenges in Basra’s Oil Sector

According to the Ministry’s statement, the expanded ministerial gathering sought to identify and address the obstacles hindering oil operations in Basra. The primary goal was to ensure the continuity of efficient oil production.

The Minister emphasized the necessity for coordination between government entities and oil companies, highlighting the importance of overcoming challenges that could impede the execution of pivotal projects within the oil sector. He underscored the need for an enhanced work environment and the provision of essential support to bolster oil investments, thereby contributing to the Ministry’s strategic objectives and promoting sustainable development in the oil industry.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including advisors to the Prime Minister on economic affairs and the management of Basra projects, as well as directors from various governmental and security agencies, and representatives from local and international oil companies. Notable attendees included the Director General of the State Real Estate, the Director General of the Energy Police Directorate, the director of Basra International Airport, and others.

In summary, the Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs noted that the meeting resulted in several key recommendations designed to tackle the presented challenges. These recommendations aim to enhance coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the ongoing development and continuity of oil operations in Basra, recognized as a vital component for reinforcing the national economy.
