Economic Update: Baghdad
On Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce extended an invitation to citizens in Baghdad to update their ration card data. The Ministry emphasized that there are only 20 days remaining before the deadline for this update, and it announced the presence of a specialized technical team to oversee the ration card application process.
A total of 7.5 million citizens have successfully updated their data through the ration card application. While this figure indicates significant progress towards digitalization, challenges remain related to website access and various complications, which can be linked to internet connectivity. The Ministry reassured citizens that updating their ration card information is a straightforward process, facilitated through a user-friendly mobile application and online portal.
The update aims to resolve issues faced by citizens regarding ration card services, including parts, transfers, or additions. Previously, these transactions required in-person visits to ration centers, consuming considerable time. Now, citizens can manage their updates via mobile devices, thereby streamlining access to services such as adding, transferring, or modifying their ration card details without the need to visit physical locations.
Hanoun urged citizens to update their data, noting that a substantial number of individuals from various governorates have already completed this process within the specified timeframe. The Ministry is committed to finalizing this task in the coming months, pivoting towards a complete electronic system for the ration card. Currently, there is a strong response from citizens engaging in the update process, aided by the observations made during their interactions with the Ministry’s social media team.
Hanoun further clarified that the option to extend or open additional update offices for citizens is not under consideration at this time, given that there are still more than 20 days left for data completion. This timeframe allows a significant number of citizens to update their details. It has been noted that some citizens encountered difficulties during the application process, but these issues are being addressed proactively. Any complications related to documentation or the submission of photos will not hinder the record update; the communication team remains available to assist with any issues encountered during the ration card update process.
