Kuwaiti Economic Update
The Kuwaiti Council of Ministers has approved draft decrees concerning the linkage of budgets for ministries, governmental departments, attached entities, and independent institutions for the fiscal year 2026/2025. The projected revenues are estimated at 18.231 billion dinars, while expenditures are set to reach 24.538 billion dinars, resulting in an anticipated deficit of approximately 6.306 billion dinars.
The Council reviewed the preparation of legislations designed to link the budgets of various ministries, governmental departments, and institutions before these proposals are forwarded to the Emir of Kuwait for ratification.
The approval of these budget linkage decrees to commence from early April underscores the government’s commitment to adhering to predefined timelines for budget approvals. This initiative is intended to empower government agencies to effectively execute their operations and projects.
Additionally, the Council has tasked the Minister of Finance with the responsibility of disseminating further details regarding the decrees connecting the budgets of ministries, governmental departments, attached bodies, and independent institutions.
