Kuwait Unveils Smart License to Streamline Business Procedures

Kuwait Launches Unified Smart License Project

On Sunday, the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Kuwait officially initiated the first phase of the unified smart license project. This groundbreaking initiative is designed to consolidate all government licenses and documentation required by commercial establishments into a single digital document.

During a press conference attended by various ministers, including those from municipal affairs, communications, and health, Minister of Trade and Industry Khalifa Abdullah Al-Ajil stated that this development aims to enhance the business environment and streamline governmental processes for commercial entities.

The smart license project integrates the Ministry of Trade and Industry with other relevant government agencies, such as the firefighting force, the municipality, and the Ministry of Health. This interconnected system will facilitate a more efficient and cohesive approach to issuing licenses.

Minister Al-Ajil emphasized that this integration will significantly accelerate the regulatory approval process, allowing business owners to obtain all necessary licenses from a single source. Previously, obtaining multiple licenses from different agencies was a time-consuming and administratively challenging endeavor.

It is estimated that this initiative will reduce the time and procedures involved in acquiring commercial licenses by approximately 80%.

The initial phase encompasses various activities, including public trade licenses, as well as licenses for retailers and restaurants. The project is set to culminate in its fourth and final phase, which is scheduled to commence on June 15.
