Kirkuk Governorate Plans Construction of New Hospitals to Enhance Healthcare Capacity
On Monday, the Kirkuk Governorate unveiled an initiative to construct three new hospitals within the region, collectively offering a total of 500 beds. Qasim Ibrahim Hafez, the Governor’s Assistant for Technical Affairs, outlined this development, emphasizing its alignment with the government’s strategy to bolster the health sector’s capabilities in Kirkuk.
Hospital Capacity and Locations
The proposed hospital constructions include a specialized 100-bed addiction hospital in the Jemen area, a women’s and children’s hospital in Sikanian with a capacity of 300 beds, and a district hospital in Taza, also with 100 beds. Hafez articulated that these facilities are expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the province and alleviate pressure on existing hospitals in urban areas.
Ongoing Projects
In addition to the new hospital plans, Hafez directed the construction companies responsible for the Dibs Hospital and Daquq Hospital, each designed to accommodate 100 beds, to expedite their operations in accordance with the established timelines. He underscored the importance of intensifying efforts as these projects progress into their advanced stages.
By improving healthcare infrastructure, the Kirkuk administration aims to ensure that residents have greater access to essential medical services, ultimately contributing to the overall health of the community.
