"Khor Al-Zubair Port Welcomes 13 Oil Tankers Amid Surge in Maritime Operations"

In a significant development, Farhan Al-Fartousi, the Director General of the General Company for Iraq Ports, announced today that 13 oil tankers have docked at the Khor Al-Zubair Specialized Port.

In his statement, Al-Fartousi emphasized that “maritime operations at our ports are progressing effectively, as our dock facilities are operating at full capacity to accommodate incoming tankers.”

He continued, stating that “the Khor Al-Zubair port has received 13 oil tankers carrying a variety of shipments, primarily including fuel oil, gasoline, and NVTA material.”

The distribution of tankers is as follows: the vessel (SUMER) was allocated berth No. 41, while the vessel (Versha) occupied berth No. 42, both loaded with fuel oil. Additionally, two (Meltemii) tankers were received with gasoline, and the carrier (Front VEGO) was assigned to berth number 9 with NVTA material.

Al-Fartousi noted, “The rest of the carriers also varied in their shipments, predominantly carrying fuel oil, gas oil, and Vlakot, indicating a significant diversity in the port’s operations.”

He further explained, “The processes of docking, loading, and unloading have benefited from effective cooperation between maritime navigation entities and the port administration, which has facilitated a more efficient workflow and ensured smooth maritime operations.”

These activities are particularly crucial at a time when Iraq is focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of its marine ports, underscoring the vital role of the Khor Al-Zubair port in the transportation and distribution of oil and petroleum products to various international markets.
