Economy Update – Baghdad
On Sunday, the Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, affirmed the strong interest of Japanese companies in the Iraqi market, highlighting that trade collaboration strengthens the ties between the two nations. Concurrently, Toyota Iraq announced the introduction of an “insurance” service for its vehicles.
The ambassador remarked that “23 Japanese companies are participating in the Japanese pavilion at the Baghdad International Fair,” underscoring that “this participation demonstrates Japan’s strong commitment and the significant interest of its companies in the Iraqi market.” He emphasized that the Japan Pavilion serves as an exceptional opportunity for the Iraqi populace to explore Japan’s high-quality and innovative products, alongside hosting cultural initiatives to highlight various aspects of Japanese culture.
Endo articulated his conviction that “the Japan Pavilion at the Baghdad International Fair will foster deeper understanding and friendship between Iraq and Japan,” further noting that “trade cooperation between the two countries enhances the frameworks of our friendships.”
In a related development, Sardar Bibani, CEO of Toyota Iraq, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering vehicles that meet safety and security standards for the Iraqi market. Bibani stated that “as the exclusive distributor of Japanese cars, Toyota has introduced a new feature pertaining to vehicle insurance and is also providing comprehensive free services, known as pulse, for a duration of two years. This initiative is backed by Toyota for all its agents in Iraq.”
Additionally, Bibani indicated that Toyota is actively engaging the Iraqi community through various events and initiatives, including participation in residential projects.
