Iraq’s Wheat Exports Surge: PM Sudani Highlights Agricultural Success

Iraq’s Agricultural Export Growth and Government Support

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani announced substantial wheat exports, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector.

Prime Minister Sudani made these statements during a meeting with an agricultural delegation at the 16th Munich Congress in Germany.

As stated by the prime minister’s press office, the Iraqi government prioritizes agricultural support due to its critical role in ensuring food security and enhancing economic diversification. “Iraq has successfully exported a large volume of wheat, thanks to several productive planting seasons and ongoing government support for farmers,” Sudani remarked.

In 2024, Iraq’s wheat production reached 5.234 million tons, marking a 23% increase compared to the previous year.

Sudani highlighted that there is a vibrant market for agricultural equipment within Iraq. Furthermore, a representative from Class Company expressed interest in establishing a training center aimed at enhancing the skills of Iraqis, as well as setting up a facility for the repair of agricultural machinery.
