Iraq’s PM Unveils Digital Tax Inquiry Service to Boost Efficiency

Launch of Digital Tax Inquiry Service by Prime Minister Mohamed Shaya Al-Sudani

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shaya Al-Sudani unveiled a digital tax inquiry service aimed at streamlining tax operations and addressing issues related to name similarities.

During a session of the Supreme Committee for Tax Reform, the Prime Minister introduced the digital tax inquiry service as part of the Ureat electronic service platform. This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of tax processes.

The digital inquiry service enables citizens to access information about their tax obligations electronically, featuring enhanced speed, accuracy, and transparency. It encompasses both corporate entities and individual professions, aligning with modern standards in tax administration by incorporating international best practices and advanced technologies.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the new service would address the challenges posed by similar names, thereby simplifying the compliance process for citizens.

The meeting also addressed several key issues regarding the new income tax law. This legislation has been approved by the Council of Ministers and is now awaiting consideration and finalization by the House of Representatives, having already passed discussions in the State Council. The new law is designed to adhere to international standards, foster a favorable business environment, and promote investment—contributing positively to overall economic growth.
