Significant Boost in Olive Oil Production Announced by Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture
The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture has reported a notable increase in olive oil production rates for the year 2025, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s agricultural sector.
In an official statement, the ministry disclosed that it achieved an impressive oil yield of 18% from various olive varieties, including "Al-Bakwal," "Gerava," and "Saint Catherine." This achievement is recognized as a historic development within Iraq’s olive industry.
The ministry credited this progress to three years of intensive and dedicated efforts, which focused on harvesting olives from multiple regions while employing modern techniques to maximize productivity and quality.
Despite facing various challenges in recent years, including a dramatic drop in oil production to below 10%, improvements have now been realized. This advancement underscores the resilience and determination of Iraqi farmers in enhancing their output and meeting market demands.
