Economy Update – Baghdad
The Ministry of Agriculture has reported a notable increase in olive oil production rates for the year 2025.
In a recent announcement, the ministry indicated that it has successfully achieved high extraction rates of 18% from various olive varieties, including “Al-Bakwal,” “Gerava,” and “St. Catherine.” This milestone represents a significant breakthrough in Iraq’s olive sector.
The ministry elaborated that this success results from three years of dedicated efforts, which included harvesting olives from multiple regions and employing modern techniques to ensure optimal yield.
Despite previous challenges faced by farmers, where extraction rates were below 10%, the current advancements in production are encouraging.
