Iraq’s Ministry of Oil Addresses Allegations of Iranian Oil Re-Exportation
On Monday, February 3, 2025, the Ministry of Oil in Iraq refuted claims regarding the country procuring Iranian crude oil for the purpose of re-exportation.
In an official statement, the Ministry asserted that "export operations are subject to stringent controls, with Iraqi crude oil being exported in accordance with global mechanisms and standards that uphold the highest levels of integrity from the Iraqi export ports."
Further, the statement clarified the ministry’s process for oil products, indicating that it publicly announces designated quantities for sale. The ministry invites proposals from reputable local and international companies, ensuring that all loading from Iraqi ports is conducted transparently. It emphasized a strict adherence to avoiding dealings with entities that may be subject to international sanctions, providing transparency by disclosing the names of all carriers involved in the transport of oil products from these ports.
Moreover, the Ministry highlighted its collaboration with global platforms, such as Kepler, to safeguard the procedures involved in marine transportation of oil quantities. The objective is to prevent any manipulations until the product reaches its intended destination. The statement concluded with a commitment to implement deterrent measures against any buyers who may violate these protocols.
