Iraq’s Oil Exports to the US Plummet: What’s Causing the Drop?

Recent data from the US Energy Information Administration indicates a notable decline in Iraq’s oil exports over the past week.

The report highlights that US crude oil imports from eight key countries averaged 5.577 million barrels per day, reflecting an increase of 42,000 barrels per day compared to the prior week, which recorded an average of 5.535 million barrels per day.

Specifically, Iraq’s oil exports to the United States saw a significant drop, falling to 46,000 barrels per day—a decrease of 182,000 barrels per day from the previous week, when they stood at 228,000 barrels per day.

The administration further noted that the majority of US oil revenue in the past week stemmed from Canada, which supplied an impressive 4.091 million barrels per day. Brazil followed with 418,000 barrels per day, while Mexico contributed an average of 308,000 barrels per day, and Colombia provided 227,000 barrels per day.

The data also revealed that American imports of crude oil from Saudi Arabia totaled 203,000 barrels per day, while imports from Venezuela were recorded at 189,000 barrels per day. Additionally, Ecuador contributed 95,000 barrels per day.
