Economic Update – Baghdad
The Ministry of Industry and Minerals has declared its compliance with all specifications set forth by the Ministry of Electricity regarding transformer production, emphasizing the high quality and competitive pricing of these transformers.
Sufyan al-Jubouri, General Manager of the General Company for Electrical and Electronic Industries under the ministry, stated: “In alignment with Prime Minister Mohammed Shaya Al-Sudani’s directive to support the Ministry of Electricity in alleviating bottlenecks during the summer, our company is committed to supplying products that benefit both the public and private sectors.” He further noted, “We are currently awaiting the annual or monthly requirements from the ministry.”
Al-Jubouri continued, “Our annual production capacity for transformers—specifically those rated at 250, 400, and 630 kVA—stands at approximately 6,000 units. It is important to highlight that the combined output from the General Company for Electrical Industries and Diyala Energy Company fulfills around 20-30% of the Ministry of Electricity’s demands.”
He explained, “We maintain exceptionally high specifications for our products, enabling us to compete effectively in local markets. Pricing is determined by the Ministry of Electricity, and while we adhere to their standards, we strive to keep our prices aligned with local market rates.”
Al-Jubouri also pointed out that “each stage of the transformer manufacturing process undergoes rigorous dual testing, ensuring superior quality compared to local competitors. Our approach satisfies all specifications required by the Ministry of Electricity, including adherence to optimal temperature regulations and other necessary criteria.”
