Captain Mazen Al-Kaabi, the Maritime Attaché at the Iraqi Embassy to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and Deputy Permanent Representative of Iraq at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), announced that the acceptance of Captain Zine El Abidine Adel Abdel Moneim as an accredited auditor for the IMSAS system from Iraqi ports marks a significant milestone for Iraq’s status within the international maritime community.

In his statement, Al-Kaabi emphasized that “the acceptance of Captain Zine El Abidine Adel Abdel Moneim as an accredited auditor of the IMSAS system from Iraqi ports is a historic achievement that bolsters Iraq’s standing in the international maritime society.”

He elaborated that this achievement represents a critical step toward enhancing maritime services in Iraq, the result of ongoing efforts to foster collaboration with the International Maritime Organization and to implement international standards that ensure maritime safety and security. This advancement enhances Iraq’s competitiveness in the global maritime sector.

According to Al-Kaabi, “This achievement underscores Iraq’s commitment to adhering to international standards and significantly boosts the international community’s confidence in Iraqi ports. This will contribute to Iraq’s ability to fulfill the requirements of the International Maritime Organization and successfully navigate the forthcoming mandatory assessments.”

Furthermore, he noted that Iraq remains dedicated to fortifying its adherence to maritime safety standards through comprehensive training for sailors and enhancing ship management practices, aligning them with advanced international benchmarks.
